After studying music in France, Belgium and Germany, Nicolas Billaux moved to the Grand Duchy in 2011 to work as an oboist and choirmaster. His practice follows three main guidelines: Sharing – bringing music to as many people as possible, leaving aside all barriers; Spontaneity – improvising for more direct communication; Curiosity – discovering and helping others discover, daring to mix styles, unlikely places and unexpected encounters. Nicolas teaches oboe and English horn at the Pétange music school, choral singing at the UGDA, and directs the vocal ensembles Jubilate Musica and Home Sweet Home. He leads vocal improvisation workshops and performs in small improvisation groups.
