Ilze Lejina

Saxophone

Ilze LEJIŅA is a Latvian saxophonist from Riga, Latvia.
She holds a master's degree in saxophone from the National Academy of Music in Riga, and went on to perfect her skills at the Royal Danish Academy, as well as at the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique in Montreuil (France).
For five years, Ilze played with the City of Riga Saxophone Quartet.
It was after this enriching experience that she decided to set up her own group, ‘n[ex]t’, which she managed with talent on soprano saxophone.
Ilze has played regularly with the Latvian National Opera Orchestra and was awarded a Latvian Classical Music Victory in 2000.
She currently lives in France, where she teaches saxophone at the Union Grand-Duc Adolphe de Luxembourg music school. In parallel, she forms the duo ‘Viņš un Viņa’ with her husband, French saxophonist Fred Hormain.
