Douglas Becker

Douglas Becker is a Brussels-based choreographer, performer, teacher and mentor who has been working at the intersection of ballet and contemporary dance for over forty years. A former dancer with New York's Joffrey Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada and Dallas Ballet, he was a principal artist with Frankfurt Ballet under William Forsythe. His choreographies have been performed at the Théâtre Royal Flamand in Belgium, the Grand Théâtre de Genève in Switzerland and the Centres chorégraphiques de Grenoble and Nancy in France. He has been a guest professor at the P.A.R.T.S. school in Brussels (since 1997), at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, at the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs de Paris and Lyon, and at the University of California at Irvine in the United States, as well as at many other institutions in Europe.
Since 2010, Douglas Becker has been assistant professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, as well as curator and coordinator of the European programme.
